Code of Conduct

ScalaCourses.com is dedicated to providing a harassment-free community for everyone. We do not tolerate students or staff harassing other students or other members of the Scala community in any form. Students or staff violating these rules may be sanctioned or have their status revoked at the discretion of senior ScalaCourses.com staff.

Harassment includes offensive comments related to gender or anything to do with it (identity, history, expression, non-binary gender, etc.), sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, programming experience or background, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of community activities, spaces, or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

All students, staff and course-related activities are subject to this anti-harassment policy. In particular, students and ScalaCourses.com staff should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material.

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, ScalaCourses.com staff may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from enrolled course(s).

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a ScalaCourses.com staff member immediately, or email training@scalacourses.com.

ScalaCourses.com staff will be happy to help participants contact local law enforcement or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe. We value your participation.

We expect participants to follow these rules at all ScalaCourses.com-supported venues – including online venues – and social events associated with ScalaCourses.com. These venues include but are not limited to:

  • All source code repositories, issue trackers and comments linked from course material
  • All events organized by Scalacourses.com.

This policy shall be subject to the jurisdiction of San Mateo county, California, USA, unless it pertains to a local event hosted or otherwise managed under the aegis of ScalaCourses.com and physically held in another geographic area, in which case it shall be interpreted according to the locally applicable laws.
